Idyll

2023, Chisenhale (UK)

What fruits might an artist's work bear? In response to Ravelle Pillay's exhibition Idyll at Chisenhale Gallery, The Gramounce (in the hands of Nora Silva and Inês Neto dos Santos) construct an installation as communal feast, a creative enquiry into the artist’s work. From Pillay’s interest in cooking as an artistic practice and the ingredients which form part of her identity (such as banana, taro and jackfruit), The Gramounce peers into a fictional future scenario, speculating on what edible landscapes arise from the artist’s paintings.

Positioning themselves within imagined vegetal landscapes of Pillay's paintings, where leaves drip, puddles form, and fruits abound - the Gramounce invite you to join them, asking, what might it feel like to breathe, be and eat within them?
